Animal Assisted Activities (AAA) are simply social sessions, where you and your dog meet people, sometimes in groups, sometimes one-on-one, typically in a health care setting, but also at schools, colleges, libraries and other public settings. Your dog may simply be present while people pet him or talk to him or to you. He may do some tricks, rest on a lap or cuddle on a bed.
Completion of our basic therapy dog class is required of everyone who wishes to become a CHAMP Therapy Dog Team with their dog. For enrollment:

Our basic therapy dog class covers a lot of ground, has lots of homework and is a lot fun. Our classes are all about positive training techniques.
Class size is typically 8 to 10 dogs with three instructors, plus additional helpers from CHAMP staff and experienced therapy dog handlers.
Our basic AAA therapy dog class prepares you and your dog to make social visits to places such as hospitals, hospices, library and school reading programs, nursing homes, and adult day care programs.
Our staff tries hard to find the right fit for you and your dog among our facilities. We consider your interests, your dog’s comfort, your location, your schedule and the openings we have.
We want both your dog and you to be happy in your therapy work.
